Thus says the LORD: "For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept His commandments. their lies lead them astray, lies after which their fathers walked." --- Amos 2:4
Heavenly Father, in mercy you have granted me another day of life. I give you thanks for your many blessings you have given me and my loved ones in times past. And I continue to give praise to you for the many times you have heard our heart cries in the past.
I give you thanks for the many mercies you have granted to this great nation throughout its history and how you have delivered it in times of conflict.
But we are a nation that has become corrupted over recent decades. Our religious leaders who profess to believe in you have too often denied truths revealed in your holy Word. There are those who refuse to accept the moral boundaries you have clearly established. Too often they have been silent regarding the mass destruction of unborn children.
Our elected officials have clearly ignored your will to pursue righteousness and truth. And now they are attempting to force unwanted legislation upon us under the guise of healthcare reform. Our president, his advisors, and the leaders of our Congress have resorted to illegal conduct in their efforts to force passage of this proposed legislation into law. Bribery is but one of the methods they have used in this matter. You alone know all that they have been guilty of doing. Return upon their heads, O God, the fruit of such acts of which they are guilty. Bring defeat and condemnation upon such actions.
And if it should be that the proposed legislation is passed into law, bring conviction and a tormented conscience upon those who have participated in doing this thing and brought such destruction to our republic. May they never know a moment’s peace, a night of restful sleep, taste a satisfying meal nor experience a bit of contentment until they publicly repent, acknowledge their wrong doing, and make proper restitution. And may the entire nation experience an increase in calamities so long as elected officials, beginning with the president, continue to defy you and seek to do their own will instead of seeking that your will be done entirely.
In the mighty Name of your Son, Jesus Christ, and for His glory alone – even Him to Whom is given the title, King of kings and Lord of lords I ask this. Amen!
For the leaders of this people cause them to err, and those who are led by them are destroyed. --- Isaiah 9:16
