Mr. Clayton D. Harriger
Belsano, Pennsylvania
Dear Clayton,
Thank you for writing about this deeply personal issue. I want to be clear – I believe that a woman’s right to choose is fundamental, not only as a matter of health and well-being but of dignity and autonomy as well. Roe v. Wade has been the law of the land for almost fifty years, and basic fairness and the stability of our law demands that it not be overturned.
At this pivotal moment, as the Supreme Court is poised to rule on a case with serious implications for reproductive rights, Vice President Harris and I recommit to defending women’s constitutional rights to privacy and protecting the freedom of all people to build their own future. My Administration will continue to use all available tools to respond to the continued attack on abortion and reproductive rights.
If the Court does overturn Roe, it will fall on our Nation’s elected officials at all levels of government to protect a woman’s right to choose, and we will need Congress to pass legislation that codifies Roe, which I will work to pass and sign into law.
The constitutional rights of women are essential to the health, safety, and progress of our Nation. Our daughters and granddaughters deserve the same rights that their mothers and grandmothers fought for and won, which a clear majority of the American people support. We will not allow this country to go backwards on women’s equality.
Sincerely,
Joe Biden
NOTE > The signature actually looked like a first grader was given a blunted toothpick and some black ink and then told to write something! You think a doctor’s signature is something on a prescription? Very tame compared to how Joe tries to sign his name. By CDH.
